Some Notes On 3M... this is from 3M Website, i need this for my Building Design...

Window Film Frequently Asked Questions

What is window film?
Window film is optical grade polyester sheeting with embedded colored dye and/or metal particles that helps reduce the transmission of solar heat, light, and ultraviolet rays through glass.

What are some of the benefits of window film?
Window film reduces glare, lowers utility costs, blocks UV rays, enhances privacy, prevents flying broken glass in the event of a storm and deters home invasions and theft.

Why 3M window films?
3M is the world leader in window film technologies with the best performing films and professional warranties.

Is window film better than tinted glass?
Window film provides more benefits than tinted glass including additional solar heat and ultraviolet rejection. Window film also helps protect occupants from flying shards of broken glass in the event of accidental breakage, storm damage and home invasions.

Can window film save on my energy bill?
Once installed Global window film helps reduce the amount of solar heat energy coming through a pane of glass. This makes it easier to cool a room or the interior of a car, resulting in lower energy consumption. The extent of savings will depend on the type of film selected and the geographic location where the film is used.

What is meant by "Curing" and how long does it take?
All window film installers use a special soapy solution during installation. It is normal for some of this solution to become trapped between the glass and the film, requiring time to "dry-out". The curing or dry-out time is necessary for window film adhesive to properly bond to the glass. How long it takes depends on factors such as the film type and climate during and after installation completion. Your professional installer will tell you what to expect.

What do I need to know about maintenance?
After the dry-out process is complete your window film will not need any special care. Cleaning window film can be done safely with mild soapy water and a soft cloth or soft paper towel. Do not use any rough or abrasive materials for cleaning the film side of the glass. Always use cloths that are free of contamination or dirt particles.

Filipino declared “Hero of the Year” by CNN... FROM INQUIRER.net

Filipino declared "Hero of the Year" by CNN
By Alexander Villafania
INQUIRER.net First Posted 16:53:00 11/22/2009 Filed Under: Awards and Prizes

MANILA, Philippines – For his innovative "Kariton Klasrum" (pushcart
classroom) Filipino educator Efren Peñalforida has been awarded by CNN
as "2009 Hero of the Year."

Peñaflorida was awarded during the CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute at
the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. He received his award from American
actress Eva Mendes.

He bested nine other nominees from different countries for the Hero of
the Year award. The nominees were initially selected by a panel of 14
"Blue Panel" luminaries but the Hero of the Year award is given to the
one with the most number of online votes in the CNN Heroes website.

Peñaflorida would be the first Filipino to become a nominee of the
annual CNN Heroes awards and the first to Filipino to win the top
prize.

The project, already in its third year, is a a tribute by the
international news organization to selfless humanitarian acts of
individuals from different countries.

In his acceptance speech, quoted by CNN, Peñaflorida said: "Our planet
is filled with heroes, young and old, rich and poor, man, woman of
different colors, shapes and sizes. We are one great tapestry. Each
person has a hidden hero within, you just have to look inside you and
search it in your heart, and be the hero to the next one in need."

"So to each and every person inside in this theater and for those who
are watching at home, the hero in you is waiting to be unleashed.
Serve, serve well, serve others above yourself and be happy to serve.
As I always tell to my co-volunteers ... you are the change that you
dream as I am the change that I dream and collectively we are the
change that this world needs to be."

Peñaflorida will receive $100,000. This will be used to fund his work
in the Dynamic Teen Company, a volunteer organization that he put up
to conduct his "Kariton Klasrum" program.

Peñaflorida's program conducts weekly visits to poor and underserved
areas in Cavite, north of Luzon, to teach young people basic lessons
in Mathematics, English, and Science using only a specially designed
pushcart.

In a previous interview, Peñaflorida said he will continue holding
weekly lessons and hopes that it will encourage other people to lend
time to help others in need.
