words of life

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for
refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness. – 2
Timothy 3:16

You’ve seen them on TV.
Each one professes to be right. Both quote the Bible expertly, using
God’s Word for defense and offense.
Yet, what they seem to achieve is more divisiveness. Insults and
provocations are their primary weapons as they tear down each other on
different channels. It’s saddening to note that the Good News is used
for destructive debates and un-Christian misinformation. They seem to
just one-up each other.
Overuse, misuse and abuse of Scriptures will never lead to God.
My friend Rene sends me text messages that contain God’s Word of hope
regularly. Often, they will strike me at the heart. They are just the
right words at the right time. That’s what Scriptures should do:
become a source of inspiration and personal words of God to you. Jun

REFLECTION:
Have you quoted the Bible to uplift somebody today?

Lord, You alone have the words of eternal life. Grant that I may be
Your witness.

1st READING

Paul tells us that “all Scripture is useful for teaching, reproof,
correction and training in righteousness.” Scripture is the basic
manual of Christian survival and we are mad if we do not use it
accordingly. There is nothing magical about reading and understanding
the Scriptures; there is a multitude of books to help the beginner and
the expert. We have no excuse. Reading Scripture has to be the bedrock
of our life of faith.

2 Timothy 3:10-17
10 You have followed my teaching, way of life, purpose, faith,
patience, love, endurance, 11 persecutions, and sufferings, such as
happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra, persecutions that I
endured. Yet from all these things the Lord delivered me. 12 In fact,
all who want to live religiously in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
13 But wicked people and charlatans will go from bad to worse,
deceivers and deceived. 14 But you, remain faithful to what you have
learned and believed, because you know from whom you learned it, 15
and that from infancy you have known the sacred scriptures, which are
capable of giving you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ
Jesus. 16 All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching,
for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17
so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every
good work.

P S A L M

Psalm 119:157, 160, 161, 165, 166, 168
R: O Lord, great peace have they who love your law.
157 Though my persecutors and my foes are many, I turn notaway from
your decrees. (R) 160 Permanence is your word’s chief trait; each of
your just ordinances is everlasting. (R) 161 Princes persecute me
without cause but my heart stands in awe of your word. (R) 165 Those
who love your law have great peace, and for them there is no stumbling
block. (R) 166 I wait for your salvation, O LORD, and your commands I
fulfill. (R) 168 I keep your precepts and your decrees, for all my
ways are before you. (R)

G O S P E L

This rhetorical question, I believe, reinforces the notion that the
Messiah is a descendant of David. The crowd is pleased with Jesus’
argument as they seem to slowly accept Him as the Messiah. If that is
the case, they would definitely be happy as they have been longing for
a Messiah for centuries now.

Mark 12:35-37
35 As Jesus was teaching in the temple area he said, “How do the
scribes claim that the Christ is the son of David? 36 David himself,
inspired by the Holy Spirit, said: “The Lord said to my lord, ‘Sit at
my right hand until I place your enemies under your feet.’ ” 37 David
himself calls him ‘lord’; so how is he his son?” The great crowd heard
this with delight.

my reflections
think: Reading Scripture has to be the bedrock of our life of faith.

SABBATH

INSPIRED OF GOD

I love poetry. I love songs, including pop, most especially if they
are poetic. I enjoy even the religious poems of Rumi, the classical
Muslim man of letters and mysticism. I love them, for they inspire me.
Oftentimes, they lift my sagging spirits. When I feel down, all I need
to do, besides prayer and even during prayer, is reach out for my
favourite lines from a favorite chanteur or chanteuse, poet or writer.
They inspire me, no doubt. But that is not to say that they are
inspired themselves. They console me alright, but in the same vein,
that does not mean that they lead me without fail to the God of
consolation, no matter if what they afford me appear to be divine and
heavenly consolations. The story of Paul, too, has always moved me in
many ways. Today’s first reading is one of those high points in Paul’s
life that do not fail to tug at my rather sensitive heart. Paul is
saying goodbye. He knew he is to die soon as he writes to his beloved
disciple, Timothy. His story of fidelity and love for the Lord is an
account that people could not easily gloss over. His story moves us,
inspires us and catapults us to higher levels of resolve and
resignation to the Divine Will.
But there is more to life than merely being lifted up emotionally. We
need more than just ephemeral emotional “highs” that come and go.
Today, Paul refers precisely to this God-given resource that serves
not merely as inspiration, but as solid basis for a life lived as God
would have us do. “All Scripture is inspired of God,” Paul avers, “and
is useful for teaching — for reproof, correction and training in
holiness so that the man of God may be fully competent and equipped
for every good work.”
It is definitely good to seek for inspiration from anywhere one can
get it. But it is best to seek for the God who inspires — the God who
is behind  book “inspired of God,” no less. Fr. Chito Dimaranan, SDB

Reflection Question:
Do I seek inspiration from Scriptures?

Lord Jesus, inflame my heart and mind with Your Word.

St. Breaca, pray for us.

EVERYDAY MASS, EVERYDAY SUCCESS

Be eager to present yourself acceptable to God, a workman who causes
no disgrace. – 2 Timothy 2:15

“Do I hear right that you go to church every day?” quipped my boss
during a get-together. “Yes, I do.” I answered hesitantly, wondering
how he got the information. I told him that I need it for my work;
it’s where I get my strength, my wisdom, my guidance and my
protection.
As an IT manager overseas, there are lots of challenges that try my
patience, wisdom and focus. It can be wearisome without the Lord in my
life.
But more than my need for Him, it’s my deep longing for God and my
love for Him that drives me to seek Him each day. The Gospel reading
today says, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and
with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength”
(Mark 12:30).
As I present myself to Him daily at Mass, I receive His guidance that
brings me success in my workplace.Danny Tariman (danny@dtariman.com)

REFLECTION:
Do you have a difficult task in your workplace? Try seeking the Lord
in the Eucharist.

Thank You, Lord, for Your guidance. You are my Wisdom. You are my Strength.

1st READING

God has demonstrated His faithfulness to His people over the past
millennia; it is now our turn to demonstrate our faithfulness and
perseverance in doing His will. Surely God will always be with us —
but will we always stay close to God? Faithfulness does not just
happen. It is a result of the decisions we make. We need to choose God
over and above what the world offers us over and over again.

2 Timothy 2:8-15
8 Beloved: Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant
of David: such is my Gospel, 9 for which I am suffering, even to the
point of chains, like a criminal. But the word of God is not chained.
10 Therefore, I bear with everything for the sake of those who are
chosen, so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ
Jesus, together with eternal glory. 11 This saying is trustworthy: If
we have died with him we shall also live with him; 12 if we persevere
we shall also reign with him. But if we deny him he will deny us. 13
If we are unfaithful he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself.
14 Remind people of these things and charge them before God to stop
disputing about words. This serves no useful purpose since it harms
those who listen. 15 Be eager to present yourself as acceptable to
God, a workman who causes no disgrace, imparting the word of truth
without deviation.

P S A L M

Psalm 25:4-5ab, 8-9, 10, 14
R: Teach me your ways, O Lord.
4 Your ways, O LORD, make known to me; teach me your paths, 5 guide me
in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior. (R) 8 Good and
upright is the LORD; thus he shows sinners the way. 9 He guides the
humble to justice, he teaches the humble his way. (R) 10 All the paths
of the LORD are kindness and constancy toward those who keep his
covenant and his decrees. 14 The friendship of the LORD is with those
who fear him, and his covenant, for their instruction. (R)

G O S P E L

The first three commandments tell us how to love God. The latter seven
instruct us how to deal with our neighbor. Perhaps this distribution
tells us that we are going to struggle more with loving our neighbor
than God. Makes sense to me as I have a lot more neighbors than gods
in my life.

Mark 12:28-34
28 One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him, “Which is the first
of all the commandments?” 29 Jesus replied, “The first is this: ‘Hear,
O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! 30 You shall love the Lord
your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind,
and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love
your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater
than these.” 32 The scribe said to him, “Well said, teacher. You are
right in saying, ‘He is One and there is no other than he.’ 33 And ‘to
love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all
your strength, and to love your neighbour as yourself’ is worth more
than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34 And when Jesus saw that
he answered with understanding, he said to him, “You are not far from
the kingdom of God.” And no one dared to ask him any more questions.

my reflections
think: Faithfulness does not just happen; it is a result of the
decisions we make.

SABBATH

A REMINDER TO LOVE

I had an aunt who badgered us with endless reminders all the time. In
the few times I visited her in Canada many years ago, she would pepper
me with repetitive reminders days before I set back for home. Though I
resented her then, I must admit that those reminders eventually
worked. Indeed, as the scholastics used to say, “repetitio mater
studiorum” (repetition is the mother of learning).
The readings today smack of repetition, reminders and rejoinders. In
the same “farewell” letter of Paul to Timothy that we started
reflecting on yesterday, the opening line starts with — you guessed it
right — “remember…” And the solicitous Paul, seemingly unsatisfied
with a simple reminder, insists that Timothy do the same: “Keep
reminding people of these things and charge them before God to stop
disputing about mere words.”  The response after the first reading
actually offers a rejoinder to the solicitous reminder from Paul — a
prayer that “reminds” God, as it were, to keep on “teaching us, His
ways.”
The Gospel speaks of something not altogether unrelated to the same
motif. Echoing what the people of Israel were told in the Old
Testament, the Lord reminds us now about exactly how He can teach us
His ways. “Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone!” It is for
no other reason than this that the Jews traditionally recite this
prayer, called the Shema, several times in the course of a day.
We are a people with such short memories. We forget events all too
easily. Thank God, we have, as a community of believers, a privileged
moment to bask in glorious memory. We call it liturgy, the official
worship that the Church offers to God. In the liturgy, however, we do
more than just hone our memory skills. We don’t just remember — we do
and celebrate a memorial. And biblical memorial is something that
actualizes, makes present and real —albeit in a sacramental way — what
we celebrate. And what do we celebrate? God’s love and the reminder
for us to love Him in return. Fr. Chito Dimaranan,
SDB
Reflection Question:
How do I remind myself of God’s love for me and His presence in my
life every day?

May I always remember, Lord Jesus, that You died on the Cross because
of Your great love for me. Help me to remember to love You in return
by living a life that’s pleasing to You.

St. Kevin, pray for us.

World No-Tobacco Day 2010...from www.MB.com.ph

Editorial
World No-Tobacco Day 2010
May 30, 2010, 4:27pm

A World Health Organization (WHO) report titled “Women and Health:
Today’s Evidence, Tomorrow’s Agenda” reveals that the number of female
smokers is fast increasing. Recognizing the importance of controlling
women’s and girls’ addiction to tobacco, this year’s celebration of
World No-Tobacco Day centers on the theme “Gender and Tobacco with an
Emphasis on Marketing to Women.”

The celebration highlights the need for close to 170 Parties to the
World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco
Control to ban all tobacco advertising, promotion, and sponsorship in
accordance with their constitutions or constitutional principles.

The Convention, which took effect in 2005, expressed alarm over “the
increase in smoking and other forms of tobacco consumption by women
and young girls worldwide.” Although this year’s campaign will focus
on tobacco marketing to women, it will also include the need to
protect boys and men from tobacco companies’ business tactics.

Men and women alike need to be aware of effects of tobacco use and
abuse. They need equal protection from gendered advertising and
marketing schemes and gender-specific tobacco products.

Equally important is protecting them from secondhand smoke and
occupational exposure to tobacco and nicotine.

May 31 every year is celebrated as World No-Tobacco Day to heighten
public awareness of the hazards of tobacco use and abuse, educate the
public on the marketing and business strategies employed by the
tobacco industry, and spread the message about the WHO initiatives for
anti-tobacco campaign.

The day’s activities worldwide will endeavor to promote a healthy
lifestyle among people, especially the young, and introduce ways to
protect future generations from tobacco abuse. Initially observed on
April 7, 1987, as “World No-Smoking Day,” World No-Tobacco Day began
to be celebrated annually on May 31 in 1988, pursuant to World Health
Assembly resolutions.

Let us protect our people, particularly our women and girls, from
being lured by tobacco advertisement and marketing strategies into a
lifetime of nicotine dependence. It is imperative that tobacco control
policies and measures take into consideration gender norms,
differences, and responses to tobacco to reduce tobacco use and arrest
the incidence of tobacco-related diseases and deaths worldwide.

We reiterate the message of WHO Director-General Margaret Chan that
“protecting and promoting the health of women is crucial to health and
development – not only for the citizens of today but also for those of
future generations.”

Let us endeavor to “Make every day World No-Tobacco Day.”

Smoking is dangerous to your health. Quit smoking and live longer!

THE LITTLE FISH

"From of old I was poured forth, at the first, before the earth." – Proverbs 8:23

One story from Anthony de Mello's The Song of the Bird goes like this:
"Excuse me," said the little fish,
"can you tell me how to find this
thing called the ocean?"
"The ocean," said the older fish, "is
the thing you are in now."
"Oh, this? But this is water," said
the disappointed fish as he swam to
search elsewhere.
Sometimes, we are just like the little fish, going around trying to find God. What we don't immediately recognize is that God is everywhere. He is the Creator who made everything that surrounds us, from the vast universe to the tiniest grain of sand. He is the Christ who emptied Himself to become like us, made of flesh and blood, vulnerable and weak. He is the Spirit that dwells within us, constantly guiding us though we may choose not to heed Him.
Aren't we lucky that wherever we look, be it our surroundings, our fellow men, or our own selves, we see the reflection of God?Cecilia Lim (cez_lim@yahoo.com)

REFLECTION:
"Stop searching, little fish. There isn't anything to look for. All you have to do is look." (Anthony de Mello)

You are my God! In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

This text seems to be something like a hymn to the glory and beauty of creation. As we celebrate Trinity Sunday we celebrate the basis of all life — God,three persons in one. How do we explain this? We do not, as we cannot! We simply have faith and live the truth of His love for us in first creating and then redeeming us.

Proverbs 8:22-31
22 Thus says the wisdom of God: "The LORD possessed me, the beginning of his ways, the forerunner of his prodigies of long ago; 23 from of old I was poured forth, at the first, before the earth. 24 When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no fountains or springs of water; 25 before the mountains
were settled into place, before the hills, I was brought forth; 26 while as yet the earth and the fields were not made, nor the first clods of the world. 27 "When the Lord established the heavens I was there, when he marked out the vault over the face of the deep; 28 when he made firm the skies above, when he fixed fast the foundations of the earth; 29 when he set for the sea its limit,
so that the waters should not transgress his command; 30 then was I beside him as his craftsman, and I was his delight day by day, playing before him all the while, 31 playing on the surface of his earth; and I found delight in the human race."

P S A L M

Psalm 8:4-5, 6-7, 8-9 (2a)
R: O Lord, our God, how wonderful your name in all the earth!
3 [4] When I behold your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you set in place — 4 [5] what is man that you should be mindful of him, or the son of man that you should care for him? (R) 5 [6] You have made him little less than the angels, and crowned him with glory and honor. 6 [7] You have given him rule over the works of your hands, putting all things under his feet. (R) 7 [8] All sheep and oxen, yes, and the beasts of the field, 8 [9] the birds of the air, the fishes of the sea, and whatever swims the paths of the seas. (R)

2nd READING

St. Paul knows that the love of God is the basis of everything that is good. It is the Holy Spirit who has been entrusted with the task of continuing to make known this truth to us. The Father creates the truth; Jesus reveals the truth of His love and the Spirit maintains this revelation for all eternity. Sounds a bit complicated, but it is not. Love is only as complicated as you want it to be.

Romans 5:1-5
1 Brothers and sisters: Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, 4 and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope, 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.

G O S P E L

The Holy Spirit is sometimes spoken of in theological circles as the love of the Father and Son made manifest. That is, their love for each other is so great that it takes on its own being. God calls us to experience and share in that love through faith in Jesus Christ.

John 16:12-15
12 Jesus said to his disciples: "I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. 13 But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. 14 He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. 15 Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you."

my reflections
t h i n k : The Holy Spirit has been entrusted with the task of continuing to make known to us the truth that God's love is the basis of everything that is good.

FEAST AND CHALLENGE

We celebrate today the deepest and greatest mystery of our Christian faith: the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity.
First of all, the mystery of the Trinity tells us that there is only one God. He was the God of the Old Testament and still is the God of the New Testament. He was God before anything existed, He is God today, and will still be God until the end of time.
Second, though He is the one and only God, He is not alone. There are Three Persons in One God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Divinity, however, is not divided into three. The fullness of divinity resides in each of the Three. Each has His own role in the economy of salvation and in sustaining the whole of creation: the Father creates, the Son redeems and the Holy Spirit sanctifies. However, when each fulfils the role proper to Him, all Three Persons are actively present.
Third, the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity commands us to mirror God in His being a community. We are different from one another but we are one body with Jesus as Head. We should celebrate our differences and contribute our unique gifts to our Christian community.
God is a community where mutual love respect and collaboration of Three Persons reign. They do not contrive against one another. They congregate as one God. And we, together with all of creation, benefit from the love, respect and collaboration They have for and with one another. God, a community in Himself, is not a community for Himself only but for others, for us.
The same should be for our community, whether we are referring to our parish or even the universal Church herself. We must live for others, i.e., all of humanity. The graces of our unity, respect, collaboration and love should continually flow in and out of our community. We are Church not only in the world but also for the world.
Today is thefiesta of God Himself and so it is our fiesta as well. Let us face and take the challenge of this feast: Mirror the community of the One God in and for our one, but fragmented, world. Fr. Bobby Titco
Reflection Question:

The Church is the icon of the Trinity.

Father, Son and Spirit, one God, I adore You. I love You. I praise You. With the Church, may I help reflect Your image in the world, contributing whatever I can in advancing Your reign on earth. Amen.

St. Hubert, pray for us.

Funeral by Band of Horses Lyrics, I really love this one!

I'm coming up only to hold you under
I'm coming up only to show you wrong
And to know you is hard and we wonder
To know you all wrong, we were

Really too late to call, so we wait for
Morning to wake you; it's all we got
To know me as hardly golden
Is to know me all wrong, they were

At every occasion I'll be ready for a funeral
At every occasion once more is called a funeral
Every occasion I'm ready for the funeral
At every occasion one brilliant day funeral

I'm coming up only to show you down for
I'm coming up only to show you wrong
To the outside, the dead leaves, they all blow (alive is very poetic)
For'e (before) they died had trees to hang their hope

At every occasion I'll be ready for the funeral
At every occasion once more is called the funeral
At every occasion I'm ready for the funeral
At every occasion one brilliant day funeral

BABY STEPS

Like newborn infants, long for pure spiritual milk, so that through it
you may grow into salvation. – 1 Peter 2:2

When my son Lance was born, I got so excited to see him grow that I
had to remind myself to take it one step at a time. Newborns are not
yet fully developed and their diet should depend on their
developmental stage. No iron in their milk for the first six months.
Begin feeding solids at six months but only with pureed foods. No
honey, egg whites or spinach at least for the first year. So much to
consider! But now, when I see Lance so healthy, I know that my
diligence paid off.
When I first became a Christian, my relationship with God filled me
with so much joy that I wanted to give up everything. But because I
was not ready, when I received His calling I thought the task was too
much and I quit even before I began.
I learned from my mistake. I got back to basics and took baby steps.
First by getting to know Him again through readings and prayer, then
by looking deep into myself and discovering who I am. After I had done
these, God gave me opportunities to serve and this time, I said yes.

REFLECTION:
No matter what stage of spiritual growth you’re in, enjoy God’s
pampering and give yourself a chance to learn more.

Lord, let Your words nourish me and help me grow.

COMPANION

1st READING

St. Peter outlines to us the basis of our human dignity as seen
through the prism of the death and resurrection of Jesus. It is a very
high ideal to live up to, but possible. Let us accept the dignity God
offers us and witness to the world what it means to live a fully human
life.

1 Peter 2:2-5, 9-12
2 Beloved: Like newborn infants, long for pure spiritual milk so that
through it you may grow into salvation, 3 for you have tasted that the
Lord is good. 4 Come to him, a living stone, rejected by human beings
but chosen and precious in the sight of God, 5 and, like living
stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house to be a holy
priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through
Jesus Christ. 9 But you are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy
nation, a people of his own, so that you may announce the praises” of
him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once
you were “no people” but now you are God’s people; you “had not
received mercy” but now you have received mercy. 11 Beloved, I urge
you as aliens and sojourners to keep away from worldly desires that
wage war against the soul. 12 Maintain good conduct among the
Gentiles, so that if they speak of you as evildoers, they may observe
your good works and glorify God on the day of visitation.

P S A L M

Psalm 100:2, 3, 4, 5
R: Come with joy into the presence of the Lord.
2 Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands; serve the LORD with
gladness; come before him with joyful song. (R) 3 Know that the LORD
is God; he made us, his we are; his people, the flock he tends. (R) 4
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, his courts with praise; give thanks
to him; bless his name. (R) 5 The LORD is good: his kindness endures
forever, and his faithfulness, to all generations. (R)

G O S P E L

Jesus calls the blind man to come so that He can heal him. He also
calls us to send us out on mission. Today is the Feast of Augustine of
Canterbury, a monk sent by the Pope to establish the Church in
England. Augustine left the comfort of his monastery in obedience to
the Pope to carry out the task assigned to him. In the same way we
need to listen to the voice of God in our own lives and embrace the
call of the Church, God’s voice on earth, as we seek to bring the
Gospel to the ends of the earth.

Mark 10:46-52
46 As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable
crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind man, the son of Timaeus, sat by the
roadside begging. 47 On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he
began to cry out and say, “Jesus, son of David, have pity on me.” 48
And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he kept calling
out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me.” 49 Jesus stopped
and said, “Call him.” So they called the blind man, saying to him,
“Take courage; get up, he is calling you.” 50 He threw aside his
cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus. 51 Jesus said to him in reply,
“What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied to him,
“Master, I want to see.” 52 Jesus told him, “Go your way; your faith
has saved you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed him on
the way.

my reflections
t h i n k : Let us accept the dignity that God offers us and witness
to the world what it means to live a fully human life.

BLESSING OR CURSE

We love to bless and be blessed. We believe in blessings.
Some curse and are cursed. Some believe in curses.
Do you believe in curses? If you do not, then why do you believe in
blessings? Is it our belief that makes either blessings or curses
work?
Curses are as real as blessings. If we have faith when we curse, that
which we curse is accursed indeed. If we have faith when we bless,
that which we bless is truly blessed. Be generous so as to bless. Be
careful so as not to curse. Be loving so as to be a blessing. Why
curse anyway? But Jesus cursed the barren fig tree. He did! It was
because, being barren, the fig tree already ceased to be a blessing
long before it was cursed. By cursing the fig tree, Jesus brought to
consciousness what the fig tree really had already become: a curse.
Be fruitful and be a blessing. Do not be a curse. But we are not fig
trees. When we are barren, there is still hope for us to heal and bear
fruit in due time. And this is Good News!
Be healed and bear fruit. Bear fruit and bless. To be healed, we need
to be cleansed as Jesus cleansed the temple with its maladies for it
to be truly what it should be — a house of blessing, never a den of
thieves. Be cleansed and be what you should really be. Be what you are
truly meant to be and bless others.
To be cleansed, we must pray. Prayer purifies us with the presence of
God. This is grace. Pray and be purified. Be in the presence of God
and bless others.
To bless, we must love. Love makes us the presence of God in the
world. This is virtue. Love and be a blessing. Be the presence of God
and bless others.
Are you a blessing or a curse?Fr. Bobby Titco

Reflection Question:
Am I a blessing or a curse? Am I fruitful or barren?

Beginning today, Lord Jesus, I will pray not only for You to bless me
but for You to transform and use me to be Your blessing to others. Be
it far from me that I become a curse to
anyone. Amen.

St. Wiliam of Gellone, pray for us.

I've Learned (literature with anonymous author in my Inbox)

I’ve learned
That you should not tell a child their dreams are unlikely or outlandish.
Few things are more humiliating and what a tragedy it would be if they
believed it.

I’ve learned
That your family won’t always be there for you. It may seem funny, but
people you aren’t related to can take care of you and love you and
teach you to trust people again . Families aren’t biological.

I’ve learned
That no matter how good a friend is. They’re going to hurt you every
once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I’ve learned
That it isn’t always enough to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes you must learn to forgive yourself

I’ve learned
That no matter how bad your heart is broken ,the world doesn’t stop
for your grief.

I’ve learned
That our background and circumstances may have influenced who are, but
we are responsible for who become.

I’ve learned
That just people two argue, it doesn’t they don’t love each other
And just because they don’t argue, it doesn’t mean to do.

I’ve learned
That we don’t have to change friends if we understands that friends change

I’ve learned
That you shouldn’t be so eager to find out a secret
It could change your life forever.

I’ve learned
That you cannot make someone to love you.
All you can do is someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.

I’ve learned
That no matter how much I care, some people just don’t care back.

I’ve learned
That it take years to build a trust and only seconds to destroy it

I’ve learned
That it is not what you have in your life but whom you have in your
life that counts.

I’ve learned
That you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes
After that, you’d better know something

I’ve learned
That you shouldn’t compare yourself to the best of others

I’ve learned
That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I’ve learned
That it’s taking me a long time to become the person that I want to be

I’ve learned
That you should always leave loved ones with loving words
It may be the last time you can see them.

I’ve learned
That you can keep going long after you cant.

I’ve learned
That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we fell.

I’ve learned
That either you control your attitude or your attitude will control you.

I’ve learned
That regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the
passion fades and there gad better be something else to take it place

I’ve learned
Those heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs
to be done, regardless of sequences .

I’ve learned
That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I’ve learned
That my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I’ve learned
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you’re down will
be the one to help you get back up.

I’ve learned
That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance .
It goes for true love.

I’ve learned
That just because of someone doesn’t love you the way you want them to
doesn’t mean they don’t love you with all they have

I’ve learned
That the maturity has more to do with the types of experiences you’ve
had and what you’ve learned from them and less to do with how many
birthdays you’ve celebrated

I’ve learned
That two people can look at the same exact thing and see something
